OKLAHOMA CITY – Caroline Dixon had a record-setting outing in Oklahoma City University's 8-0 women's soccer shutout of Mid-America Christian on Tuesday night at Stars Field.
Dixon, a freshman from Manchester, England, played a part in every goal scored in the match. Dixon booted in five of the Stars' eight goals and assisted on the other three.
Dixon matched the single-match school record of five goals set by Amanda Jones vs. College of the Ozarks (Mo.) on Sept. 3, 2004. She also tallied 13 points to break Jones' single-match point record of 10 set in that same match.
"It was a tremendous achievement," OCU coach Brian Harvey said. "She has been threatening to score like that since she's been here, but she hadn't found the net. She did tonight."
Malin Andersson, a sophomore from Huskvarna, Sweden, scored the second goal assisted by Dixon. Andersson was also assisted by Dixon with the seventh goal in the 49th minute. Sarah Leonard, a junior from West Yorkshire, England, scored the third goal in the fifth minute of the match off an assist from Dixon.
Brittany Tibbs, a sophomore from Kansas City, Mo., led the Stars defense with three saves in the match.
OCU improved to a record of 6-3-1, 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and will face Northwestern Oklahoma State on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Stars Field.
